First attempts at playing Bass

On the original Rocksmith I played 4 songs for around 13 minutes. I've played all of my songs on Rocksmith at least once in the last 23 days. If I was to play all of them in one session, it would take me 3 hours 28 minutes to play them all!

I need to update my spreadsheet to include my new Bass guitar (new to me anyway). Work on that is progressing - brief notes on my first attempt are included below.

I will also probably reorganise how I present the blog as a consequence of starting to learn Bass as well as normal electric.

I've played for a total of 115 hours 31 minutes with only 9884 hours 28 minutes to go until I hit 10,000 hours: the point where you are supposed to have mastered an activity. On Bass I played for around 14 minutes, lots of hours before I reach the master stage for that instrument.

Bass

I've recently obtained a bass guitar and have started the journey to learning how to play this as well as a normal electric guitar.

Guitarcade

I only have access to ducks, the game where you shoot ducks by plucking the appropriate fret.

First attempt earned 9113 points and gaining #8 on the leader board.

Lessons

I had a go at three of the lessons, and in reverse order to the way I was probably supposed to be attempting them.

Sustains I earned 43045 and getting silver: gold is 48000 points.

Shifting I earned 25385 points and earned bronze. Silver is 30,000 points and Gold 51000 points.

Bass Basics I got 30,004 points and earned silver. Gold is 35,000 points.

Songs

I had two attempts at Where is My Mind and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.  I qualified first time on both songs, so attempted the first set and got two encores with Chimney and Islands. 

A score table for the bass will follow sooner or later.

Unlocked

I unlocked several things today, including an Epiphone EB3, the Slides technique, Weesy Down tone, Moon Bass tone and a metal distortion pedal.

Plateaued again

Out of the eight songs I played today, I had improvements on six of them. I still haven't hit the qualifier on three of the songs for the next 'gig', but am very close with Boys Don't Cry now with Higher Ground and I want some more getting closer.

I seem to have plateaued with House of the Rising Sun, so need to get a little more focussed and spend time with the riff-repeater to get my accuracy up a little.

A Sunday morning quickie

Your minds. Dreadful.  I was looking for a Frankie Howerd quote along those lines but couldn't find it.

Another quick practice, the main reason is that (yet again) I have things I need to do today. I'm hoping to get another practice in today though, but this time just with the practice songs and just possibly my first attempts on Bass.

Still making progress

A short session as I have socialising things to do today. Fairly pleased with the results today.

On Boys Don't Cry I was given several new chords to play that I'm trying to come to terms with. They included Bm, C#m, a D (but not one I've tried before), an Fm and an E. I don't have time while trying to play to make notes on what is coming up on screen.

I finished with three of the Guitarcade games, including Ducks, Chord Runner, Quick Pick Dash and Dawn of the Chorded. Scores and leader board positions for the three were 92,883 (#7), 314,320 (#8), 2,111,000 (#5) and 57,400 (unplaced) respectively.

I need to look at modifing my tracker, 'cos I'm getting  a bass guitar soon and intend to add my progress with that onto my blog (I don't think I can be bothered to do a separate one just for the bass!)

Sunday morning blues

The headline isn't exactly accurate: it was more rock than blues.

I got score improvements on six of the fourteen songs played, and am pleased. Another slight improvement on House of the Rising Sun something I am pleased with (although I didn't do the riff repeater today).

My other half likes Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's and it is a pleasant song. Sadly it's not available as downloadable content (and I've just checked). The tab is on the ultimate guitar tab site, and can be heard on Spotify or YouTube.

Todays plan has to be getting some more work on the script for adding captions and logos to photographs ready for the Stockton Pirate Day.

An improvement in House of the Rising Sun

Although I didn't make much progress with the Riff Repeater for House of the Rising Sun, something has improved as I earned just over 40,000 points when I played the song - my previous best was 28,000 points. I am still planning on using the riff repeater until I can play all of the notes in the song correctly.

It is too early to be thinking about this, but I am looking at doing the riff repeater with Sweet Home Alabama next - if for no other reason than my mum likes the song.

On the original Rocksmith I played 8 songs for around 35 minutes. I've played all of my songs on Rocksmith at least once in the last 6 days. If I was to play all of them in one session, it would take me 3 hours 28 minutes to play them all!

I've played for a total of 111 hours 31 minutes with only 9888 hours 28 minutes to go until I hit 10,000 hours: the point where you are supposed to have mastered an activity.

A short but productive session tonight

Just a short session, but pleased to see slow improvements in House of the Rising Sun. I'm struggling to get 57% of the notes correct in the opening hook, but I think I'm getting closer to achieving it.

Half of the songs I played tonight had some measure of improvement

I did play several of the guitarcade games, but didn't bother noting the scores today.

Once I get my coding finished for the photograph application, I intend to get back into coding the RockTrack application to help me to keep track of my progress with the Rock Smith game - although as there are significant differences between the way the two show scores I'm going to be scratching my head for a while working out how to handle that.
