A More Perfect Union

Today I focused on the lead songs I haven't played for a while, instead of targeting specific songs.

I was paying attention to the lyrics for A More Perfect Union by Titus Andronicus, and was thinking they are very appropriate for the UK at the moment, especially the outro

"I will be as harsh as truth and as uncompromising as justice. On this subject, I do not wish to think, or speak, or write with moderation. I am in earnest. I will not equivocate, I will not excuse, I will not retreat a single inch, and I will be heard."

This is from William Lloyd Garrison’s abolitionist editorial, “The Liberator,” published in the newspaper of the same name. The quote shows Garrison’s uncompromising belief in what is right and his unshakeable willingness to fight for it. 



It also meant I played songs with some unusual tunings, including two on a D standard (Sweet Mountain River by Monster Truck and Blood and Thunder by Mastodon).

In Drop D were Wires by Red Fang, Between The Lines by Stone Temple Pilots, Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold, Unnatural Selection by Muse, and Richochet by Brian Afam McCune.

Several were on alternate tunings of E - this is where the A is something other than 440. Played in A434 was Pantera's Cemetry Gates, A444 was Ultra Soul by B'z (not one of my favourite songs), Machine Head by Bush and Alice Cooper's No More Mr Nice Guy was played at A447, War Ensemble by Slayer was in Eb, and System of A Down's Hypnotize was in Eb Drop D.

In total I have spent 366 hours 9 minutes playing on the Rocksmith games, in this session I played for 118 minutes.

I am learning 232 songs through the game, with 92 on the bass, 19 on rhythm guitar, and 121 on lead guitar (some I'm learning on all three).

It has been 247 days since I played all the song arrangements, and it would take around 31 hours to play them in one session. I don't think that is going to be likely!

No More Mr Nice Guy by Alice Cooper. I got 81% right improving on my previous best attempt. Overall I earned 22.9% beating my previous best.

War Ensemble by Slayer. I got 88% right improving on my previous best attempt. Overall I earned 24.2%.

Hypnotize by System Of a Down. I got 72% right. Overall I earned 26.5% beating my previous best.

This is the full list of songs that I have played on the two versions of the Rocksmith game.
The two versions of the game have different methods of calculating the scores. The original version just had the score, streak and percentage. In Rocksmith 2014 the score was dropped from the main results, and a mastery and an overall result was added.

The overall result can be over 100%, this occurs when a song is played in master mode. In Master mode, the game hides the notes you are expected to play, and you earn extra points for playing them correctly. When you manage to successfully play the song in master mode, you have learned the song and should be able to play the song alongside a band or backing track. Although playing alongside a band needs a lot of rehearsal time to sound good.
