A long session

A marathon session today, I played through all of the songs on my Rocksmith playlist at least once.

I beat 100,000 points with Do You Remember making it the third song to pass 100,000 points. Although I don't quite have all of the sections for this song mastered yet, so can't attempt it in master mode.

I should really make the effort to play Next Girl in master mode, I think I more or less know all the sections and can recognise where the changes are due.

On the original Rocksmith I played 52 songs for around 3 hours 29 minutes. I've played all of my songs on Rocksmith today, with improvements on 20 of the songs.

I've played for a total of 110 hours 19 minutes with only 9889 hours 40 minutes to go until I hit 10,000 hours: the point where you are supposed to have mastered an activity.

An early start

I was happy with my efforts today, especially with House of the Rising Sun - I improved my score by over 30%. I didn't do the riff repeater today as I was needing to rush out.

Although I'd planned to play for around 90 minutes, I needed to head out earlier than planned and the Playstation crashed when I was trying to select Islands so I thought that was a good time to stop.

I need to adjust the volume settings for the backing music on the game I think, because when I'm playing with the TV volume low I can't hear the guitar over the backing music. Although I did crank the volume up a little part way through so that I could hear what I was playing (and wasn't too keen on what I heard).

Heading out to do some organising for the Stockton Pirate day at the end of the month - and no, I'm not playing. I'm taking photographs instead.

No real progress

I have spent more time trying to improve on my playing of House of the Rising Sun, using the Riff Repeater on the Leveller mode. I had two tries at the initial hook, with no progress from the 42% mastery I was at after the last attempt at playing the song and on the second attempt gaining 50% mastery.

The mastery represents how many of the notes you are getting to play out of the section.

After I'd finished playing the songs, I ran through some of the Guitarcade games and got to number 5 or six on all of the leader boards for the games I attempted.

Guitarcade games

Big Swing Baseball 

This is a baseball game where you need to play the correct note at the right time in order to hit the ball.
I got 92100 points and #6 on the leader board.

Scale Runner 

This game you have to play notes on a scale to get your character to jump from ridge to ridge. Get the note wrong, or don't play in time, and your character will fall. The speed to play increases as you get better. Until your character falls off...

I attempted the A minor pentatonic scale and earned 332500 points and #5 on the leader board.

Dawn of the Chorded

For this game you need to play the chord and kill the zombies. Every so often you get a wave of fast zombies.

I earned 227,700 points and got to #6 on the leader board.

Ducks

This is the first of the guitarcade games you get to play, and you have to play the right note on the low E string to shoot the duck.

Scored 93429 points and #6 on the leader board.

As well as half hour of songs I'd planned to practice today, I also did another practice at the C#m chord (mainly because I totally messed up during the song today) and also used the riff repeater to work on the initial hook of House of the Rising Sun going from a difficulty level of 50% to 57%.

Using the riff repeater didn't give any real improvement on the song

I've almost decided to adjust my practice sessions again. I'm thinking about having a focus on a section of a song on the Riff repeater until I hit 100% for that section, and continue to work my way through the song. I am also planning on working out the score and tab for each section so I can practice when I don't have time to get the game running.

To help with this I'll have to make more changes to my spreadsheet (and James already thinks it's complicated!).

A second session today

On the original Rocksmith I played 21 songs for around 1 hours 16 minutes, some of which were played when James was practicing the songs he played 14 songs for 50 minutes.

I've played for a total of 102 hours 23 minutes with only 9897 hours 36 minutes to go until I hit 10,000 hours: the point where you are supposed to have mastered an activity.

On Rocksmith 2014 I played for around 2 hours (the Rocksmith 2014 figures aren't currently included in the total time played as I haven't worked out how to keep track of the scores)

The packaging for the game suggests that this mode will help you to apply the skills learnt elsewhere in the game and teach you how to jam along with other players.

The packaging also claims that it will also make you into a qualified musician. We'll have to see about that one.

First session of the month

I'm very happy with todays practice, I did get a new high score for Next Girl gaining 113,578 points and a 99% accuracy. I'm not sure how many notes are in this song, but I did get a streak of 148 - although my best streak ever on this was 191 notes, so I'm guessing there will be at least 200 notes.

On the original Rocksmith I played 15 songs for 1 hour.

I've played for a total of 102 hours 21 minutes with only 9897 hours 38 minutes to go until I hit 10,000 hours: the point where you are supposed to have mastered an activity.

After following my practice set, I unlocked the Wasteland tone in the game. So far I haven't tried using any of the tones in the practice mode, I'm getting tempted.

I practiced the C#m chord again, I'm getting closer and short fingernails on the left hand are a distinct advantage when trying to play chords.

The B7 chord in The Spider and the Fly is causing me problems still, and I don't think I'm hitting the other chords cleanly enough as yet. I did get this chord in Dawn of the Chorded correctly, so I may be getting closer.

Two of the guitarcade games got a try out today. I got to position #7 on Big Swing Baseball with 65,400 points and also got to #7 on Dawn of the Chorded with 147,400 points.
