570.2 A second mixed session

Song 2 Unlocked Master Mode
We Share the Same Skies and the second Islands were played on guitar, the other songs on bass.

I managed to play well enough to unlock Master mode on Song 2. The downside of that is I should now start playing in master mode: that is where you don't get shown the notes but still get scored on accuracy. I'm not quite ready for that yet though.

I have spent 570 hours 14 minutes playing on Guitar and Bass, mainly on the Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014 games, in this session I played for 24 minutes.

I am learning 777 song arrangements through the game, with 367 on the bass, 89 on rhythm guitar, and 321 on lead guitar (some I'm learning across multiple systems).

Sadly it has been 193 days since I played all the song arrangements across all three systems I have Rocksmith installed on.

These are the songs I have practiced recently.

Tunings

In E standard Jules by Seth Chapla, Next Girl by The Black Keys, Islands by The xx, We Share the Same Skies by The Cribs, and Islands by The xx
In Eb Song 2 by Blur
In Drop D Ricochet by Brian Adam McCune

568.4 A Steamy Monday Evening Session

Today's session was a mix between the original Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014 games. What I like best about the Steam version is that it synchronises across the various platforms the game is running on. It's a shame that the Playstation 3 was unable to manage this feat.

I'm playing the various training sessions on the original version and am keeping track of what I unlock. At least until I get fed up with the effort of writing them down! I only managed a single encore today.

On Technique I unlocked Double Stop and Palm Mutes. I can now access The Mouse Hole venue. I unlocked an Epiphone 1958 Kerina Flying-V guitar. If only I had an original one for real!

The Cro-Magnon Drive tone was another unlock today. This effect has a Distortion pedal on the distort path, an EQ6 in the filter chain driving a DC58 amp feeding a DC58 2x12 cabinet. That combination is probably a little too much for practicing in the bedroom late at night.

I have spent 568 hours 25 minutes playing on Guitar and Bass, mainly on the Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014 games, in this session I played for 34 minutes.

I am learning 778 song arrangements through the game, with 368 on the bass, 89 on rhythm guitar, and 321 on lead guitar (some I'm learning across multiple systems).

Sadly it has been 190 days since I played all the song arrangements across all three systems I have Rocksmith installed on.

These are the songs I have practiced recently.

Tunings

In E standard American Idiot by Green Day, Go With the Flow by Queens of the Stone Age, Higher Ground by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Green Onions by Brock T & The M.G.s, Somebody To Love by Jefferson Airplane, California Dreaming by The Mamas and the Papas, and Oh Love by Green Day.
In Drop D Ricochet by Brian Adam McCune.

567.4 Started on a new console

edit: I have also discovered that under steam, the games are all synched up (or at least for Rocksmith 2014).

I have restarted the original Rocksmith game on a separate login, and managed to qualify and complete the first gig with a double encore.

I Can't Get No Satisfaction and Next Girl were the two songs I qualified with, with Angela and Breed being the two encore songs.

During this session I unlocked the following:

Techniques

Shifting, Sustains, Hammer Ons & Pull Offs, Slides, Tremolos

Games

Ducks

Guitars

Epiphone Limited Edition Wilshire

Tones

Stomp Box Blues - use the Jumbo modulation pedal, (can't read my writing!), the British Wah filter into a Reinar 65 Amp feeding a Baritone 4x10.

Songs Unlocked

Richochet

Stats

I have spent 567 hours 25 minutes playing on Yousician, and the Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014 games, in this session I played for 21 minutes.

Sadly it has been 186 days since I played all the song arrangements across all three systems I have Rocksmith installed on.

These are the songs I have practiced recently.

Decided to restart

After too many months of not really picking up my guitar, I have decided to restart my Rocksmith "career" and to keep a better record of how badly I am playing. The first rating you earn is "Amateur" and that is probably exactly where I will stop.

The first track to play is the Rolling Stones (I can't get no) Satisfaction. Today I've played it through four times, earning enough points to qualify the first play through and up to 21000 points.

I have decided to focus on each song until I can play it to a higher standard than just qualifying, with the aim of playing the majority of each song through unaided. I also intend to keep playing through the songs that I have learned to try and keep them current, so I suspect that my progress might be substantially slower than it was last time I was playing.

For qualifying with Satisfaction, I have unlocked the Shifting technique. This is something I need to look at next time I pick the guitar up, but at the moment I am thinking about heading out to try and enjoy the sun a little later. And I know that probably means that I'll end up in a coffee shop with either a book or the laptop. I'm also planning on heading to the cinema to catch Monsters University with Lynn this evening.

The first set list is going to be Satisfaction and Next Girl by Black Keys.

I am also considering seeing how to hook my mixing desk between the guitar and the PS3, so that I can record what I have been playing to torture and/or give people the opportunity to have a laugh at how I'm doing. That also means I could hook a microphone up and add my singing to the mix too, but I'm not too sure about that (although that also means that Lynn could sing along too).
