A Local Headline Act playing Bass

If only real life was as easy as computer games: if it was possible to become a headline act after a week and not playing any song more than three times, I think the world would be a much better (and more musical) place.

It's not hard to get a new high score when you haven't played a song before, the trick is to improve every time you play. That's the difficult bit.

I'd not played any of these songs before tonight on the Bass, and am really pleased that not only did I achieve the qualifier score for nine of them, and if I'd been paying attention to the notes on screen I may well have qualified with I Can't Hear You (I was playing the wrong string on a couple of sections).

Playing the third set I even managed to get an encore to play Gobbledigook as well. This is the song my partner used to call "the tune up song" when trying to get a high enough score to qualify on the electric guitar.

Tonight I played 10 songs for 38 minutes. I have played for 1 hours 38 minutes in total with 9998 hours 21 minutes to go before I reach the point at which you are supposed to become an expert at an activity. Over the last 5 days I have played through all of the songs I have been practicing. It will take 1 hours 6 minutes to play through them all in one session.

Improved Songs

Rebel Rebel, Me and the Bean, House of the Rising Sun, In Bloom, Vasoline, Gobbledigook, Sunshine of Your Love, Breed, I Can't Hear You and Well OK Honey.

Unlocks

I unlocked several items in the game today, including Bends, Syncopation, Octaves and Fifths, and Palm Mutes from the techniques gallery. Tones unlocked were Bass4Slide and a Compressor. I even got a new virtual guitar - the Epiphone Flying Bass.

Lessons learned

I tried out the following
TechniqueScoreDescription
Syncopation14721Syncopation is playing 'out of the beat'
Octaves and Fifths10700Octaves and Fifths are the distance between notes
Hammer On/Offs14834Hammer Ons and Pull Offs are used to get more notes played without picking the note.
A Hammer On is where you fret another note firmly while another note is playing.
A Pull Off is when you lift off after playing a note
